Comment on this image collection: The bone marrow is hypercellular for a patient of this age. There is an infiltrate present consisting of myeloid blasts that have vacuoles and little cytoplasm. Blasts consist of 60% of the total cells, replacing the remaining cellular lineages. Cytochemical staining could not be performed due to insufficient specimen. These results are indicative of an early acute myeloid leukemia of the M1 or M2 subtype.
