Bone marrow analysis

Comment on this image collection: Hematopathology indicates that the marrow cellularity is moderately increased for a patient of this age. Megakaryopoiesis is relatively reduced, while evidence of erythropoiesis and granulopoiesis is not seen. There is an almost complete infiltration of uniform appearing blast cells with nucleoli and little cytoplasm. These results are suggestive of an Acute myeloid leukemia of either the M1 or M2 subtypes. It is recommended that these results be correlated with immunophenotyping.
