Comment on this image collection: Bone marrow analysis indicates a hypercellular marrow for a patient of this age with an almost 100% infiltrate by blasts. These large blasts contain basophilic cytoplasm, irregularly formed cell nuclei, and the presence of one to two nucleoli in some cells.
Morphology and cytochemical staining are compatible with an acute lymphoblastic leukemia, formerly known as the L2 subtype.
